As part of its ongoing mission to overtake Google as the go-to search engine, TikTok launched its latest SEO tool - Featured Answer.
In addition to the multiple videos that appear when using the search bar on TikTok, this new feature pulls up text-based results when searching for informational queries. For example, when searching the term “Air Fryer Recipes” on the app, results listed step-by-step instructions on how to make French fries.
It’s clear TikTok is ramping up its potential as a dependable search engine. Last year, it was widely reported that 40% of Gen Z users prefer using TikTok and Instagram for search instead of Google. Since then, the app has made huge efforts to improve its search capabilities - highlighting keywords in comments with links to search results for the term.
For brands and marketers looking to use TikTok, this provides more room to reach audiences in a way that also boosts the lifespan of some of these creative pieces of content.
