What’s Hot On Socials? The Grammys, Super Bowl Predictions & Coffee Chats

It’s awards season, and the Super Bowl is on Sunday, which means social media is jam-packed with memes, OTT ads, and, of course, the usual wholesome content.

The best Grammys memes

Whenever award show season rolls around, the night after a ceremony, we wake up to our social media feeds plastered with the highlights from the events, and moments that have been turned into memes.

The winner of the meme queen award after this year’s Grammys ceremony was Beyoncé.

When Beyoncé’s body of work “Cowboy Carter” was announced as the winner of Best Country Album, she was aghast, and the expression on her face made that apparent!

But why did this become a meme? An Elle reporter made a good point: “It’s a refreshingly vulnerable moment from the megastar. It’s kind of nice to know that even an icon who dominates the industry, and a Virgo whose attention to detail is unmatched, can still be surprised by her own greatness.”

The next day, casual posters, brands, and creators across every social media platform used the screen grab of Beyoncé’s face as a visual to share their shock-worthy moments…

Moments like this quickly become “yesterday’s news”, so it’s a little too late for your brand to jump on the Beyoncé hype. However, with the knowledge that award shows are where many social trends are born, be prepared to act quickly over the coming weeks. We’ve got the BAFTAs next week, and the BRITs and the Oscars in March, and you could become the trend leader.

Super Bowl halftime show predictions

The halftime show is the real reason we all tune into the Super Bowl each year, right?

Of course, the football game is both tense and euphoric, but for those obsessed with popular culture, it’s all about anticipating the show that the selected mega musician will put on during the half-time break.

Last year we had Usher, and the year before that was Rihanna who made headlines when she revealed her pregnancy during the performance and used the moment to plug her Fenty Beauty products. This is what gets marketers excited.

As the big game looms, those who are more excited about the show than the game turn to TikTok to predict how it will all play out.

Kendrick Lamar has the headline slot this year. This is perfect timing, as he just took home a Grammy for his Drake diss track, and his DJ producer, Mustard, has landed a collab with Heinz featuring his vocals. We predict that the product will have a part to play in the performance.

TikTok creators are sharing their visions for the halftime show, creating humorous videos and singing Kendrick songs in the most dramatic way possible.

This time next week, we will know if these predictions became a reality…

Coffee with my younger self

Stepping away from the pop culture buzz, this trend is slightly more wholesome.

Self-care is more than just a social media trend, it shapes how many of us live our lives, and whole brands are thriving because of a desire to take a step back from our busy lives, and put ourselves first.

The coffee with my younger self trend isn’t about making a fast-paced video that will go viral online; instead, creators are posting a still or a video of a cozy coffee setting and adding text on screen sharing their hypothetical stories of how they imagine going for a coffee with a young version of themselves would look.

The content creators are sharing is poetic, nostalgic, and relatable, and the comment sections are the perfect example of the communities that social media can create.
