What’s Hot On Socials? Bunny Meme, You’re So Funny, and Nostalgic Trends

The first month of 2025 did not disappoint in regards to social media trends. Have any of these video trends featured on your FYP this week?

The uncanny bunny meme

Have you seen this slightly uncanny-looking bunny on your FYP this week? Or maybe you’ve seen her before, as she was first depicted in paint by artist Irena Aizen over 10 years ago. Irena is an artist known for her unique style that uses animal imagery to represent human relationships and emotions. And the people of TikTok are certainly feeling the emotions...

We know from the “Pepe the Prawn” meme that trended at the end of 2024 that hiding behind a somewhat humorous character is a great way for creators to share a story that they don’t want to put their face to, and this bunny follows a similar theme.

Irena has an extensive collection of artworks featuring her signature bunny in different settings, often joined by more animal pals, and creators on social media see themselves represented in the paintings.

Niche trends like this often spark cultural moments online. Creators are taking the meme one step further than simply relating to the bunny in the pictures, they’re making their own art inspired by the character.

Baking creator @danicakesaz posted a video decorating a cookie to look like the bunny which now has over 2.5 million views!

What sort of creation will this trend inspire next? Or maybe by next week, the bunny meme will be yesterday's news.

“You’re so funny!” Thanks, I…

This trend has been circling the FYP for a couple of weeks, but it’s the gift that keeps on giving!

The "You're so funny" trend has creators sharing videos revealing traumatic experiences shaping their sense of humor. Many of the videos are lighthearted, but others are going a little deeper…

Using 5 Seconds of Summer's She Looks So Perfect as the background track, users post cheerful-looking photos of themselves alongside captions like: "You're so funny!" "Thanks, I [insert deeply personal trauma you never expected to share]."

Michael Clifford, a member of the band 5 Seconds of Summer has jumped on the trend himself, sharing: “You’re so funny!” “Thanks, our song is now the theme song for trauma bonding.”

The comment sections on these videos reveal why this format is still trending – people are bonding over shared experiences. That random "fact" your parents convinced you was true as a kid? Turns out, someone else’s parents told them the exact same thing. Now, you can laugh together over the coincidence!

Take this video for example – even Joe Jonas got his head stuck in a metal fence as a kid. This trend is proof that there’s more that unites us than divides us.

There’s an opportunity for brands to jump on this trend too. Perhaps you have a slightly embarrassing story about your first-ever product launch, or your original brand name was something completely laughable. Share your story with your audience, and let them know that your brand persona is relatable too.

“What are you doing?”

Gen Z and Millenials LOVE nostalgia, and this wholesome trend is sparking those warm fuzzy feelings.

The point of the video trend is to grab a family member – bonus points if they’re from a different generation – act out a movement, eg. pulling the light switch, they should then copy your movement and tell you what they’re doing (but it has to be different). Pulling the light switch can become milking a cow udder, and the video will likely end in lots of laughter over the crazy ideas.

The comment sections on these videos are just as wholesome as the content, as people see their own families represented by others, and laugh along at the ideas that come out of the brains of those from older generations who aren’t chronically online.

Knowing that nostalgic content engages Gen Z and Millenials, we used this as a core theme for our recent campaign with PepsiCo’s STARRY Cranberry Blizz that was released for the holiday season. Many of the creators involved featured family members in their videos and shared their family traditions while seamlessly integrating the products. The comments showed that the nostalgic feelings resonated deeply with the influencers' audiences.
