Instagram Edits streamlines content creation processes

Instagram 'Edits', an app for editing short-form videos, will become available this month. Meta has been working with content creators to develop the app to ensure the experience is the best it can be.

According to Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri, “Edits is more than a video editing app; it’s a full suite of creative tools.”

Its features include:

  • A dedicated tab for inspiration
  • Another tab for keeping track of early ideas
  • A much higher-quality camera
  • All the editing tools you’d expect from a video editor
  • The ability to share drafts with friends and other creators
  • Insights tracking to analyze the performance of your videos created in Instagram Edits

The launch of Instagram Edits is an important update for brands in Influencer Marketing. With improved editing tools and a better-quality camera, this lowers the barrier to entry for creating high-quality branded content. The ability to share drafts with others facilitates smoother feedback, while insights tracking provides valuable data on video performance, allowing for optimization. Additionally, the app’s tabs for inspiration and idea tracking help influencers stay on top of trends, making it easier for brands to be a part of viral moments.

YouTube is testing new features for Premium users

YouTube Premium is a paid subscription service that offers ad-free access to YouTube and YouTube Music. It also allows users to download videos for offline viewing and play videos in the background.

The platform recently announced that it will be introducing new features for its Premium users.

  • Higher-quality audio for music videos – Premium members will now enjoy clearer, more detailed sound with 256kbps audio.
  • Picture-in-Picture for Shorts on iOS – Watch YouTube Shorts while using other apps, making multitasking easier. This will be the only short-form platform to offer this feature.
  • Smart Downloads for Shorts on iOS – YouTube will automatically download recommended Shorts so you can watch without an internet connection.
  • "Jump Ahead" on web – A new AI feature that allows you to skip to the most engaging part of a YouTube video on desktop.
  • More precise playback speeds on mobile – Users will be able to adjust playback speeds up to 4x for a more customized viewing experience.

YouTube is also expanding existing features:

  • Ask Music (UK & Ireland, Android) – Users can describe the type of music they want to hear, and YouTube will generate a personalized radio station.
  • Conversational AI on iOS – An AI assistant will answer questions about the video you’re watching and suggest related content without pausing playback.

For creators and brands, these updates provide new opportunities to engage audiences. Better audio and precise playback speeds improve content quality, Picture-in-Picture and Smart Downloads increase Shorts' visibility and strengthen its offering against competitors, and AI-powered features will enhance content discovery. Keeping these YouTube Premium features in mind allows brands to tailor their Influencer Marketing strategies to enhance the viewing experience for Premium users.
