Summer Fridays 🌞The Importance of Employee Wellbeing

Here at Digital Voices, we have introduced summer hours in order for the team to fully embrace our remote working policy. From mid-July until the end of August, the team are free to clock off early on a Friday to enjoy summer to the full.

As the weather gets better and the days get longer, it’s essential for our wellbeing to visit new places, spend time with friends and family, or even just make the most of relaxing in the sun (or rain, if you’re in the UK!)

A common misconception when it comes to reducing time spent at our desks is that less work will be done. However, we believe that having the opportunity to enjoy flexi-time and come back on a Monday feeling well rested allows us to put our all into the work we do!

Let’s find out how the Digital Voices team plan on spending their Summer Fridays:

Sammi Gee, Campaign Producer

Why is having flexi hours in the summer is important to you?

It gives me extra time to wind down.

How are you going to spend your Summer Fridays?

I’ll probably catch up on sleep, or go to the gym and spend all the time with my doggy! I’m actually planning to go on a payday shopping trip too.

Arthur Barker, Videographer

Why is having flexi hours in the summer is important to you?
I think it is important to have a good work-life balance and I think flexi hours give us a chance to actually practice it and develop healthier routines that juggle our work and home life better.

How are you going to spend your Summer Fridays?
I'm going to use them to get more exercise in. Usually, Fridays are super busy for me, and I never get the chance to go for a run. But this way, I'll have some dedicated time to be more active!

Aurora Grace, Creative Strategist

How are you going to spend your Summer Fridays?

I’ll be catching a cheap Friday afternoon flight for my holiday instead of flying on a busy Saturday!

Our Account Director, Chloe Ettinger, will also be making use of the afternoon departure times so she can go back home to London after spending time at the DV US office.

Neve Fear-Smith, Marketing Executive

Why is having flexi hours in the summer is important to you?

Especially during summer, it’s really helpful to have a few extra hours free so that ‘life admin’ doesn’t have to cut into my weekend plans. I can really embrace that Friday feeling!

How are you going to spend your Summer Fridays?

I spent my first ‘Summer Friday’ going to the cinema to do the most hyped up movie marathon of the year – Oppenheimer then Barbie!

Matteo Quirke, Business Development Executive

Why is having flexi hours in the summer is important to you?
I’m a massive fan of staying fit and taking part in outdoor activities. Being able to get outdoors on my bike or play golf with my friends and family, has been truly valuable in positively impacting my general wellbeing and creating lasting memories.

How are you going to spend your Summer Fridays?

Cycling, golf and beers, in that order!

Katana Bhinder, Senior Campaign Manager

Why is having flexi hours in the summer is important to you?

It means that I can spend quality time with my friends and family which I wouldn't usually be able to do. For example, my best friend has just had a baby(!) and is on maternity leave, so I'll be able to go and visit her to help her out in the afternoons.

How are you going to spend your Summer Fridays?

I’ll mostly be taking the time to do life admin like food shopping, laundry and cleaning ahead of the weekend, so I can fully relax on Saturday and Sunday, and spend time with friends and family. (Little did Katana know, she would actually be getting engaged! Congrats Katana)

The first Summer Friday of the season is in the bag, and the team certainly made the most of it!
